What Is This Blog All About?

This blog aims to inform parents about Elementary Art Education. I will explain why art education is important, what materials are best (and safest) to use, and how children develop artistically. Then I will give you some fun project ideas to try with your children!

Go Ahead...Try It!

Art Teacher Mrs. VandenBush created this wonderful class collaboration with her 1st grade students.

Collaboration- students colored their own squares, but put them all together to create a class collaboration

Mr. Kristofer created these awesome eraser prints with his 5th grade class!

In this lesson students learn about patterns. They used math and measurements to create radial balance and to cut their own frames.

Ms. Wagner did monoprinting with her elementary students!

The contrasting colors of Halloween were used in this project, but any colors could be used! The subject matter could also be adjusted to fit almost anything.
This project seems so simple, but it is so effective in teaching children about monoprints. Children can create as many monoprints as they want by simply repainting and drawing a new picture.

Materials:
Tin Foil
Paint
Rollers (paint brushes could be used as well)
Q-tips
Paper
